All in an evenings work
catching perch with lures
An evening perch fishing in the warmer months has to be one of the joys of summer and getting around 20 hits in a few hours is enough to keep the most impatient lure angler happy, it is a great way to introduce someone to lure fishing.

I have found bright colured lures work well and these hungry snappers will keep nipping but once they stop a change of lure will get these curious and aggresive feeders interested again.

You don't need anything to special to fish for perch and a light spinning rod and a good quality reel loaded up with 20lb braid is an excellent choice. I use a 7ft jig rod and a shimano 'exage' 2500 FB reel. this set up is lovely and light and easy to cast with. It is very worthwhile chasing the perch just as the light levels drop a very enjoyable way to spend an evening.
